Which Prize Bonds Can You Buy?
The current National and Premium Prize Bond denominations are:
| Type | Denominations |
|---|---|
| National Prize Bonds | Rs.100, Rs.200, Rs.750, Rs.1,500 |
| Premium Prize Bonds | Rs.25,000, Rs.40,000 |
The Rs.25,000 and Rs.40,000 products are registered Premium Prize Bonds, not ordinary bearer bonds.
Buying Premium Prize Bonds
Rs.25,000 and Rs.40,000 Premium Prize Bonds can be purchased from SBP BSC offices and authorized commercial-bank branches. They are registered in the investor’s name.
National Savings lists the following documents for Premium purchases:
- CNIC copy
- Account Maintenance Certificate with account and IBAN details
- tax certificate if applicable for filer status
- nominee CNIC details
Premium Prize Bonds can be purchased using cash, cheque, pay order or bank draft.
Buy Before the Shut Period
For ordinary National Prize Bonds, National Savings states that a bond must have been issued at least 60 days before the draw date to qualify for that draw. The 60 days before a draw are known as the shut period, when the relevant denomination is not sold through authorized channels.
So if you are buying a bond for an upcoming qura andazi, check the draw date first.
See the Prize Bond Draw Schedule for current dates and cities.
Keep the Bond Safe
Ordinary Rs.100, Rs.200, Rs.750 and Rs.1,500 Prize Bonds are bearer instruments, so keep the physical bond secure after purchase.
For current prize amounts, see Prize Bond Prize Details.
For registered Rs.25,000 and Rs.40,000 bonds, see Premium Prize Bonds
