How to Claim Prize Bond Winnings in Pakistan

If your ordinary National Prize Bond has won, confirm the winning number against the official draw result, keep the original bond safe and submit the prescribed PB-23 Prize Money Claim Application Form with the required documents.

Where you submit the claim depends on the prize amount. Prize money must be claimed within six years from the date of the relevant draw.

What You Need to Claim Prize Money

For an ordinary Rs.100, Rs.200, Rs.750 or Rs.1,500 bearer Prize Bond, the basic process is:

  1. Confirm the bond number against the correct draw result.
  2. Complete the current PB-23 claim form.
  3. Take the original winning Prize Bond.
  4. Attach the required CNIC and bond copies.
  5. Submit the claim through the correct authorized channel.
  6. Applicable withholding tax is deducted before payment.

The current SBP BSC PB-23 checklist requires the original and copy of the winning Prize Bond, a photocopy of a valid CNIC/SNIC and signatures on the reverse of both the original bond and its copy.

Where Can You Claim Prize Bond Winnings?

SBP BSC currently gives the following claim channels for ordinary National Prize Bonds:

Prize MoneyWhere to Claim
Up to Rs.1,250SBP BSC office, designated commercial bank or National Savings Centre
Above Rs.1,250 up to Rs.500,000SBP BSC office or designated commercial bank
Above Rs.500,000SBP BSC office

For commercial-bank claims, SBP BSC states that the facility is for individual account holders of the respective bank. Bank service or cash-in-transit charges may also apply.

For a large prize above Rs.500,000, go through an SBP BSC field office rather than a National Savings Centre or commercial bank.

Documents Required for a Prize Bond Claim

The current PB-23 procedure requires the claimant to prepare the following:

  • original winning Prize Bond
  • photocopy of the winning Prize Bond
  • photocopy of valid CNIC/SNIC
  • claimant’s signatures on the back of the original bond and its copy
  • completed PB-23 claim form
  • bank name
  • account title
  • IBAN where required for payment

SBP BSC also lists incorrect IBAN, incorrect account title, missing signatures and a photocopy that does not match the original bond among common objections raised on claims.

Check everything before submitting the form. A small error in a bond number or bank-account detail can delay processing.

Which Prize Bond Claim Form Is Used?

The current general prize-money claim form for ordinary National Prize Bonds is PB-23 – Prize Money Claim Application Form.

SBP BSC separately lists PB-1-A for payment of the face value of mutilated or defaced Prize Bonds. PB-1-A should therefore not be confused with the normal prize-money claim form.

Check the Result Before Submitting a Claim

Always make sure you are checking the correct:

denomination + draw number + draw date + six-digit bond number

A number such as 004381 should be checked with its leading zeros.

You can use Prize Bond Power Search to check available historical results on Savings.com.pk, but an important winning match should also be confirmed against the corresponding official National Savings or SBP/SBP BSC result before you submit the original bond.

How Long Do You Have to Claim Prize Money?

National Savings currently states that the maximum period for claiming Prize Bond prize money is six years from the date of the relevant draw.

For example, if a Prize Bond wins in a draw held on 15 September 2026, the six-year period is counted from that draw date.

There is little reason to delay once a winning number has been properly verified.

Is Prize Bond Tax Deducted?

Yes. The current National Savings rates for Prize Bond prize money are:

Tax StatusWithholding Tax
Filer / person appearing on ATL15%
Non-filer / not on ATL30%

The tax is deducted at source from the prize amount when payment is made.

For example, a filer winning Rs.1,000,000 would have Rs.150,000 deducted at a 15% rate, leaving Rs.850,000 after that withholding deduction.

See Prize Bond Tax for more examples.

What Happens to the Winning Bond After a Claim?

For an ordinary bearer Prize Bond submitted for prize money, SBP BSC states that the bond is not returned to the claimant. Its face value is credited as part of the settlement.

Keep a photocopy and relevant claim details for your own records before surrendering the original winning bond.

Can You Claim a Damaged Winning Prize Bond?

National Savings and SBP BSC state that prize money on a damaged bond may be claimed subject to clearance under the applicable rules.

Do not assume that a badly damaged bond will be accepted immediately. The bond may need additional verification.

Rs.25,000 and Rs.40,000 Premium Prize Bonds

The normal PB-23 claim procedure does not work the same way for registered Premium Prize Bonds.

National Savings currently states that prize money for Rs.25,000 Premium Prize Bonds and Rs.40,000 Premium Prize Bonds is credited directly to the registered investor’s bank account. No separate prize-money claim application is normally required.

This is one of the main differences between ordinary bearer Prize Bonds and registered Premium Prize Bonds.

Common Claim Mistakes to Avoid

Before handing over your winning bond, check the number and draw carefully. Use the current PB-23 form rather than an old claim form, sign the required places, provide a valid CNIC copy and make sure the account title and IBAN are correct.

Do not hand a valuable winning bond to an unofficial agent merely because they promise faster payment. SBP BSC specifically advises that prize money should be claimed by the bondholder.

Where to Check the Official Procedure

The most useful official references are the National Savings Prize Bond FAQs and the SBP BSC National Prize Bond forms and FAQs. They should be checked again if you are making a large claim because government procedures can change.

Savings.com.pk is an independent information website and does not issue Prize Bonds, approve claims or pay prize money. Use official National Savings or SBP/SBP BSC information for final confirmation before submitting your original winning bond.
